TIE Blog 2

I wasn't quite sure how the first graders were going to do with voicethread but they did a great job. Since they already sit in groups, I had them decide who was going to comment on the voicethread but they were going to come up with the answer as a group. They all loved working with voicethread and they followed directions very well.
What worked well?
I made instructions for them to use as they went through voicethread with pictures showing the direction. Even though i wanted to see them record every single comment, I still needed to attend to the other students in the classroom. By having the directions up, they were able to use voicethread in their own. I only had one computer going with voicethread, so while that one group did voicethread i had the rest of the class doing another hands-on activity about the life cycle of a chicken.
What would you do differently next time?
I had a lot of problems with voicethread kicking me out because there were 3 other girls in the first grade doing a different one and then when the students would start to record it would freeze and we would have to start all over again. so that was frustrating because the students would get bored and irritated. So i think that next time i would get my own account and use the voicethread so that i wouldn't have any technical issues.

My storyboard

I am doing my lesson plan on the life cycle of a chicken for my first grade class. I am working on this lesson with Laura in the third grade. she will be incorporating animals adaptations to their environment. I am still trying to find good pictures but this is hoe my voicethread is going to be. I will probably change the questions around  a little bit.

TIE Blog 1

My collaboarting is with Ms.Garcias 3rd grade classroom and my subject is science and the objective is life cycle of certain animals and the objective for 3rd grade is the habitat of animals. My focus for this lesson is for the students to leanr about the life cycle of butterflies and frogs. I want them to be able to to draw and identify the different parts of each life cycle and understand how the process works. I also want for them to become familiar with the new vocabulary in each life cycle.
Coming Soon:
Right  now we are still trying to figure out how to somehow link the lesson together so that her 3rd grade students can respong to what the first graders complete.

My Voicethread

I like the idea of voicethread but you have to really play around with it to get the hang of it. It can be very useful in the classroom.

VOICETHREAD

What is VoiceThread?

A VoiceThread is a collaborative, multimedia slide show that holds images, documents, and videos and allows people to navigate slides and leave comments in 5 ways - using voice (with a mic or telephone), text, audio file, or video (via a webcam). Share a VoiceThread with friends, students, and colleagues for them to record comments too.
